Description
Ladyfish are caught but rarely sold for the table because they're very bony. They're used as bait or ground into fish meal.
Ladyfish live in the western North Atlantic from New England to Florida and throughout the Gulf of Mexico. Juveniles use estuaries and hypersaline lagoons before moving offshore to marine habitats as adults.

Warnings & Kosher Issues
- Ladyfish has fins and scales (the body is covered with silvery scales), so it is kosher.
- Very bony, which is why it's used mainly as bait or fish meal rather than as a table fish.
- Its range overlaps with the malacho (Elops smithi) in the southeastern US.
