Terms of Service

Effective date: July 26, 2026
Last updated: July 26, 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the website at kosherfish.co and the Kosher Fish apps for iPhone, iPad, and Android (together, the “Service”), operated by Rosenberg Digital LLC (“Kosher Fish,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use it.

The short version

  • Kosher Fish tells you whether a fish is kosher. It is free, and there is nothing to buy.
  • It is a reference tool, not a rabbinical ruling. When it matters, ask your rabbi.
  • We work hard on accuracy but cannot guarantee it.
  • Use it for yourself, not to bulk-copy the database.

Use of the Service

Kosher Fish provides a fish-lookup tool and informational content about kosher dietary laws. You may use it for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not:

  • scrape, crawl, or bulk-query the Service in an automated fashion without written permission,
  • reproduce or republish our content without attribution and a link back to the source,
  • redistribute or resell the fish database, or
  • use the Service for any unlawful purpose.

Not rabbinical advice

The information here is general guidance. It is not a substitute for a ruling from a qualified rabbi or rabbinical authority. Kosher requirements vary by community and by certifying authority, and a fish that is acceptable under one standard may not be under another. Species names also vary by region, and a market name does not always identify the same fish. When in doubt, consult your local rabbi or a recognized kosher certification agency such as the Orthodox Union (OU), the OK, Star-K, or Chabad.

Do not rely on this Service alone for a decision that matters to your observance.

Accuracy

We work to keep the fish database accurate and cross-referenced against recognized authorities, and we would rather leave a field blank than guess at it. Even so, we make no warranty that the information is complete, current, or free of errors. Use of the lookup tool is at your own discretion. If you spot something wrong, email [email protected] and we will look at it.

The apps

The Kosher Fish apps are free. There is no account, no subscription, and no in-app purchase.

The apps are distributed through the Apple App Store and Google Play. Your license to use the app is Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement for the iOS and iPadOS app, and the Google Play Terms of Service for the Android app. Under Apple’s agreement, Apple and its subsidiaries are third party beneficiaries and may enforce that agreement against you. Rosenberg Digital, not Apple and not Google, is solely responsible for the app and its content, including any support and any claim relating to it.

You must also comply with any applicable third party terms when you use the apps, including the terms of your wireless data service.

Intellectual property

The Service, including the Kosher Fish name, the site and app design, the written guides, the illustrations, and the compiled database, belongs to Rosenberg Digital LLC and is protected by law. Individual facts about fish are not ours to own, but the compilation, the writing, and the artwork are. We reserve all rights we do not expressly grant.

Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Rosenberg Digital LLC will not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Service.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Third-party links

The Service links to third-party websites, including certification agencies and reference sources. We are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices.

Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and why. It is part of these Terms.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted means you accept the revised Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. The state and federal courts located in Ventura County, California have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute that is not resolved informally.
