Ray’s bream

Ray's bream is eaten in moderation, often coming in as bycatch in hake fisheries and sold under the 'angelfish' label in South Africa. The flesh is fine for grilling or pan-frying.

Ray's bream, the Atlantic pomfret (Brama brama), lives in the Atlantic, Indian, and South Pacific Oceans down to about 1,000 meters and makes long temperature-driven migrations. It was once scarce in northern European waters but became more common from the 1960s on.
