Description

Warmouth are eaten as panfish and are commonly caught for the table by anglers across their range.

The warmouth lives in fresh water across the eastern United States, from the Gulf and Atlantic coasts up to the Chesapeake Bay and Great Lakes basin and west to Texas. It likes slow water with thick vegetation around stumps and brush, and it tolerates low oxygen better than other sunfish.
