Description
The lake whitefish is a species of freshwater whitefish from North America. Lake whitefish are found throughout much of Canada and parts of the northern United States, including all of the Great Lakes.
Lake whitefish has a delicate flavor and is commonly sold smoked, refrigerated, or vacuum-packed as fillets.
Lake whitefish live in cool fresh water across North America, from Alaska and western Canada to Maine, New Brunswick, and Labrador, and throughout the Great Lakes. They are the prime commercial catch of the upper Great Lakes fishery.
