Description

Prawns are widely fished and farmed for food, and the body muscle is the meat people eat.

Prawns live mostly between 40 degrees north and 40 degrees south, with variety dropping off toward the poles. Some live in deep water, some offshore, and some in shallow inshore waters. Most are marine, though a few live in fresh water.
