Description
Sea squirts are eaten in several places. The sea pineapple is farmed in Japan as hoya and in Korea as meongge, Korea also farms Styela clava as mideoduk, and the piure is part of Chilean cuisine.
Sea squirts are sac-like marine filter feeders found all over the world, usually in shallow water. After their larval stage they're sessile, staying firmly attached to rocks, shells, and other surfaces. They're tunicates, with a tough outer tunic made of cellulose.
