Description
The common bream, also known as the freshwater bream, bream, bronze bream, carp bream or sweaty bream, is a European species of freshwater fish in the family Leuciscidae. It is now considered to be the only species in the genus Abramis.
The common, or freshwater, bream is not generally caught for eating. It is mostly a sport and match-angling fish.
The common bream is a freshwater fish of the carp order, found across Europe north of the Alps and Pyrenees and east to the Caspian, Black, and Aral Seas. It favors nutrient-rich lakes and ponds with muddy bottoms, and can also enter brackish water.
