Description
A few cusk-eels are fished commercially, most notably the pink cusk-eel.
Cusk-eels live in temperate and tropical oceans worldwide, close to the sea bottom, from shallow water down to the deepest trenches. One species was recorded at 8,370 meters in the Puerto Rico Trench, the deepest fish ever recorded.

Warnings & Kosher Issues
- A long, slender fish whose scales are tiny or absent, so it doesn't meet the kosher standard and is not kosher.
- Not a true eel. Unlike true eels, cusk-eels have a forked, barbel-like organ below the mouth.
