Description
Halfbeaks are considered good eating and are used fresh, dried, smoked, or salted, though they rank below other food fish in importance. They also support bait fisheries for sport fishermen.
Halfbeaks live in warm seas worldwide, mostly right at the surface, across the Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific oceans. They're typically pelagic schooling forage fish, and some species are found in estuaries.
