Description
The halfmoon is a desirable food fish with lightly flavored flesh. It can be cooked as fillets or whole using many methods, and it's a prized catch for recreational anglers.
The halfmoon lives in the eastern Pacific from Vancouver Island south to the Gulf of California, though it's rare north of Point Conception. It hangs over rocky reefs, kelp forests, floating kelp pads, and oil rigs, usually at depths between 3 and 40 meters.
