Description
Red hind is an esteemed food fish and one of the most valuable commercial catches in the Caribbean by landings. It's taken with spears, hook and line, and traps.
Red hind (Epinephelus guttatus) lives in the western Atlantic from the eastern United States to Brazil, including Bermuda, the Gulf of Mexico, and the Caribbean. It sticks to coral reefs and rocky bottoms, where males hold territories overlapping several females' ranges.

Warnings & Kosher Issues
- Kosher. The hinds are groupers with fins and scales.
- Hind is a Caribbean name covering several grouper species, so the name alone doesn't pin down one fish.
