Description
European hake is a popular food fish in Spain and Portugal, where it's grilled, pan-fried, and baked. The meat takes strong flavors well and is often cooked with tomatoes, garlic, and paprika.
European hake lives in the eastern Atlantic from Norway and Iceland south along the European coast to Gibraltar, down to Mauritania, and throughout the Mediterranean. It's usually found between 70 and 370 m, ranging from about 30 m down to 1,000 m.
