Red snapper
Lutjanus campechanus
The northern red snapper is a species of marine ray-finned fish, a snapper belonging to the family Lutjanidae. It is native to the western Atlantic Ocean, the Caribbean Sea, and the Gulf of Mexico, where it inhabits environments associated with reefs.
Red snapper is a sought-after mild, lean white fish, often cooked whole or as fillets by grilling, roasting, or pan-searing, and the skin crisps well. It's one of the most popular snappers in the U.S.
The northern red snapper, Lutjanus campechanus, lives in the Gulf of Mexico and the western Atlantic, around reefs and hard structure. It's a major commercial and recreational target in the southern U.S.
