Description
Pollachius virens is a species of marine fish in the genus Pollachius. Together with P.
Saithe is a cod-family fish with darker flesh than cod, often salted, smoked, or used in fish fingers and budget fillets. In Germany it's sold as Seelachs ('sea salmon') after curing, and most of the UK catch goes to France.
Saithe, Pollachius virens, lives throughout the northern North Atlantic, including the Bay of Biscay. Young fish stay in shallow rocky areas before moving to deeper water as they grow.
