Description
The albacore, known also as the albicore or longfin tuna, is a species of tuna of the order Scombriformes. It lives in temperate and tropical waters across the globe in the epipelagic and mesopelagic zones.
Albacore is one of the two main canned tuna species and is the only one that can be labeled solid white tuna. The fresh meat is also seared, grilled, or served raw.
Albacore is an open-ocean tuna found in temperate and subtropical waters of the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian oceans and the Mediterranean Sea. It travels in schools and migrates long distances, and it's caught commercially across all of those waters.

Warnings & Kosher Issues
- Has fins and scales, so it is kosher.
- Canned white (albacore) tuna runs higher in mercury than canned light tuna, so the FDA advises limiting it for pregnant women and young children.
