Description

The summer flounder or fluke is a marine flatfish that is found in the Atlantic Ocean off the East Coast of the United States and Canada. It is especially abundant in waters from North Carolina to Massachusetts.

It's considered an excellent food fish, with firm, mild-tasting white flesh.

Summer flounder live in the western Atlantic from Nova Scotia to Florida, and they're especially abundant from North Carolina to Massachusetts. In spring they leave deep ocean water and move inshore to beaches, inlets, bays, estuaries, canals, and creeks, staying until autumn or early winter.
