Description
A commercial fishery exists for some larger parrotfish, especially across the Indo-Pacific. In Hawaii they're known as uhu and have long been eaten locally.
Parrotfish live in warm, shallow saltwater on coral reefs, rocky coasts, and seagrass beds, with the most species across the Indo-Pacific.

Warnings & Kosher Issues
- Parrotfish have fins and large cycloid scales, so they are kosher.
- Ciguatera poisoning has been reported from large reef-feeding parrotfish in some tropical areas.
- Not the same as the parrot cichlid, an unrelated aquarium fish.
