The KosherFish iOS app puts the whole kosher-fish lookup on your iPhone, and it works offline. That is the point: you can check a fish at the counter even with no signal in the back of a store.
What it does #
- Search any fish by name, the same way you would on the site.
- See the kosher status with the green or red badge and the reason.
- Check fins and scales on the same two-row checklist.
- Read the details, including the description, nicknames, and foreign-language names.
- View the blue sketch illustration for each fish, bundled in the app so it shows offline.
Offline behavior #
The fish data and illustrations live inside the app, so search and kosher answers work with no connection. The photo gallery is the one part that needs internet, since those real photos load on demand. When you are offline, you will see a note that photos load when you are connected.
