If a search comes up empty, try a few quick adjustments before assuming the fish is missing.
Try this #
- Use fewer letters. A shorter search term casts a wider net.
- Try another name. Fish sell under several names. If “dorado” fails, try “mahi-mahi.” If “lox” fails, try “salmon.”
- Check the spelling. The search is typo-tolerant, but a name that is far off can still miss.
- Search the scientific name. If you have the Latin name from a label, try that.
Still nothing? #
The database is large but not infinite, so a rare or regional fish may not be in it yet. If you cannot find a fish you expected, you can report it so it can be added. See “Report a Correction or a Missing Fish” in this section.
